This 6-week class is an in depth intensive of exploration for intermediate artists who are seeking to advance their concepts and artistic approach to the next level. An intimate cohort will unpack and integrate where we have been on our artistic journey, and lay the ground work for our next creative expressions and iterations. We will explore the interconnections between our art and how we show up for life day-to-day. Together, we will engage conversation, inquiry, and contemplative practices. Individually, you will try on new artistic approaches, and inspiration driven research. This is a supported path toward a unique and coherent next step in your personal evolution. Participants can expect to dive deep during and between sessions. You will leave with a body of sketches, writings, and research that lays the foundation for your next gesture of creation. For artists working in (nearly) any art form.
This is not a studio arts class. This is a contemplative approach to expression and making. Required Pre-requisite: Artists must already have an established studio practice and a comfort and command of their medium. For intermediate to advanced artists. |
Oil Painting & Color Theory — 6 Week Class

This 6-week class provides an in-depth exploration of oil painting techniques, tools, and studio safety. Each class includes a lesson, demo, and painting time. As a student, you will learn to prepare painting surfaces, and complete multiple paintings to deepen your knowledge and agility with the core components of color. In addition you will expand your personal palette, and explore both representational and abstract image making.

Oil Painting — Weekend Workshop

This two-day workshop provides an introduction to oil painting, with emphasis on essential tools, techniques, and studio safety. Students will complete 1 - 2 paintings, painting from life and working in a limited palette to focus development on tools and medium. Workshop material sets the groundwork for later explorations of color mixing and technique.

This 6-week class provides an in-depth exploration of both technical and intuitive approaches to color. Each class includes a lesson, demo, and painting time. This two-day workshop provides an overview of both technical and intuitive approaches to color theory. Students will leave with multiple small paintings, along with their written notes on the measurable components of color, and a personalized outline for their intuitive approach to color. This material will set artists up to target their next steps in developing their color mixing, and personal palette.
